EQ2 Leveling Guide - Qeynos 1-5

Welcome to Everquest 2; I assume you have already made your character. Character creation can be one of the funnest parts of Everquest 2 as it is so in depth. I can spend hours tweaking my character's appearance. In the character creation; you need to pick a race and a class.

Note that only some races and classes work with being a Qeynosian. Qeynos is the “good” faction. You can also be a neutral race and still go to Qeynos for leveling. If you would like to be an Iksar Bruiser or any other evil race/class I suggest you check out our Freeport 1-15 Twink Guide. If you pick a neutral race you will need to manually select Qeynos for your starting city.

For this leveling guide I am making a Gnome Ranger.

Isle of Refuge (Queen's Colony)
You've entered the game, and found yourself in a weird place. This is the “Isle of Refuge”, the very first place you start out in Everquest 2. This island will help bring you into the basics of the game. I am assuming you already know most of the basics.

If you already know the game play, Skip talking to these people unless a quest calls for you to talk to them. Skip talking to:

Trainer Cheye Seawind
Trainer Gurga Trueheart
Trainer Charlene Stoutmuffin
Trainer Zidget Sprogrudder
Trainer Gregory Collins
Trainer Marla Gilliam
Trainer Verrin Glimmertide
Levels 1-3
You will see a path when you first load. It will be glowing.

Everquest 2 Path

Follow this path, and you will see an NPC named “Murrar Shar”. If you speak to him, He will tell you how you can leave this island immediately, but recommends you stay. For the sake of this guide. We will stay and work on leveling.

Everquest 2 - Murrar Shar

Talk to Murrar, ask him who he is, and follow the rest of the dialog. When you finally reach the end of the dialog, you will be presented with a quest. Accept the quest, and complete it. I suggest doing all of these quests that you can, you will not only learn about the game, but in 1-2 hours time you can reach level 7-8 easily. The quests will keep directing you to another NPC to talk to, and will go on until you finish them all. There are just a couple of side quests that are not included in the main line. That I will direct you to.

Do as many quests as you can even if they seem to low. You will usually get money, and you will always get EXP. Collection quests are a fun, and fairly easy way to get exp, gear, and money. I highly suggest you pickup a collection item as often as you see them.

Don't forget to equip your gear when you earn it while leveling!

The quest where SGT. Haggus has you killing Sapswill and searching for his missing soldier. You should stick around and kill goblins until level 3. It will only take about 5 kills to do. After 3 go finish the quest and get your wrist guard.

Everquest 2 - Sergeant Haggus

Levels 4-5
Now you will speak to Predator Sha'dur. She is outside of the colony to the north, up a small flight of stairs. Do this quest, just like you have done the other quests. Also speak to Deianeira, she is next to Predator Sha'dur in the tainted forest.

Everquest 2 - Predator Sha'dur

Deianeira will give you a side quest to do. You will get EXP and an earring. NOTE: Both of the quests take place in the same area, and doing both now would be best.

Kill 5 spiders, and kill some Sapswill tappers until you a quest update (Tappers are next to tree's closest to the quest NPCs; Spiders are east of the quest NPCs). Now go back and talk to Predator Sha'Dur.

When you kill the last spider you will get a loot for a parchment. Loot this parchment, then examine it from your inventory. You will get a quest update. You will need to do this over the course of the quest. After you get 1 more piece of parchment from killing a spider, go east to the rocks, and you find a piece of paper on the ground. Pick it up and examine it. Now you will fight a spider named “Direspike” don't worry he is a pushover.

Everquest 2 - Direspike

Kill him then go back and finish the quest, and get the next one.

Don't be afraid to loot junk. Sell it! Every little bit of coin helps.
