Everquest 2 Troubador Overview - EQ2 Troubador Overview

Everquest 2 Troubador

Description

When it comes to classes, the bard types are the most strange. Instead of magic, or traditional abilities; they use songs. They can either boost their groups defense, offense, and even run speed. They can also attack the enemy with snares, nukes, cripples, and many other types of detrimental spells.

The Troubadour is the bard that takes pride in bolstering the groups power. While the Troubadour does have impressive offensive abilities, they shine in groups. The power of the troubadour does not come directly from himself, but from the power he gives to his group.

Solo-Play

Troubadours are not as efficient soloers as some classes, but they can hold their own. Using your defensive songs wisely is a key to being successful.

Unless you have a stylized play type, I would suggest using a mix of different songs. Meaning: Mix in defensive, haste, and offensive buffs. Trying to keep a balance of all of the different types is good.

Bards can use 1hs + shield, as well as dual wield. People argue that you can get better dps with a 1hs if you know how to do it, but the increase is negligible. The real advantage to the 1hs + shield is the increased defense you gain from the shield itself. I would highly recommend using dual wield until you understand your class better. The DPS will be substantially better, until you can develop a good style of gameplay.

Group-Play

The Troubadour is strongest with group members. They feel much more at home with a raid or group than they do with just a partner or solo.

The troubadour is an extremely powerful ally. With his/her haste, and raw damage increase buffs, he/she will be able to increase the damage output of the entire group substantially. The Troubadour also gets very impressive defensive buffs, which can increase the amount of damage your group as a whole can tank.

While no one prefers it, in case you need to flee, the run speed buffs are very very handy. The run speed buffs are also very useful just for running your group from point a to point b. Since they have some of the best run speed buffs in the game, people have been known to get troubadour's just for that reason.

Summary

The Troubadour is an amazing ally, but a formidable enemy. Strong Defensive and offensive abilities make this character an amazing class, and a force to be reckoned with. Run speed buffs are very useful for just yourself or your entire group. I would fear the person who can master this class.
