Everquest 2 Templar Overview - EQ2 Templar Overview

Everquest 2 Templar

Description

The Templar is primarily a healer. They wear plate armor, and use blunt weapons. The power of the templar is in its very fast reusable nukes.

The Smite line refreshes every 2 seconds, while the light strike line refreshes every 6 seconds. The insanely fast refreshes make heroic opportunities very easy to use.

With an impressive line of buffs, debuffs, and heals; the templar is a highly sought after class.

The buffs are mostly hit point buffs. Some of the buffs also give a boost in damage modifiers, and some buffs give a mitigation boost.

Solo-Play

The templar is very good at soloing. Since they wear plate armor, their mitigation is better than most other caster classes.

Since they are primarily healers, the templar can stay alive for quite a while.

Stacking with the debuffs, and competent nukes the templar can be a fierce class.

Tag a creature with the debuffs, and proceed to using the heroic opportunity opener. My combination consisted of Smite, then Light Strike after I used the heroic opportunity opener.

With the level 7 lull spell you can single pull mobs from a cluster fairly easily.

Group-Play

In a group the templar is the healer. Hands down the templar is known best for their heals and buffs.

Before the group engages, request that they sit back so you can buff them. Give your group a set of buffs, then engage creatures like normal.

It is up to the templar to keep the group alive. If someone dies then it was likely the templars fault. If the templar dies it is likely the tanks fault.

On most groupable creatures, a single templar can usually keep the entire group healed, but sometimes a backup healer will be optimal.

After the tank engages the creature, proceed to quickly casting the cripple spell. This will help your entire group kill that creature faster. After that is taken care of proceed to heals. If no heals are needed right away, you can probably spare a nuke or 2.

Summary

The templar is a fun class. A very powerful class, and not an overly simple class. They have a very good combination of spells and gear making them possibly one of the most reliable classes in the game.
