Description
The Swashbuckler is very similar to the Brigand, in that they rely almost completely on piercing weapons, use flanking attacks, and use some basic buffs and abilities.
One thing the Swashbuckler does not seem to have in common with the brigand is the use of sneak attacks. At lower levels you do not get any.
However, the swashbuckler has some fairly impressive AE style attacks to compensate for their lack of sneak attacks. When used correctly the AE attack can do a fair amount of damage.
The swashbuckler also has Track to help their group find targets; as well as path finding to help the group run a little bit faster.
Solo-Play
The Swashbuckler and solo play seem to work fairly well. The Swashbuckler has plenty of DPS (Damage Per Second), and good enough mitigation to hold his ground.
The Swashbuckler has no heals whatsoever so you must rely completely on your DPS and mitigation to bring you through a fight.
My technique for soloing consisted of stunning the target (Level 4 Ability), While the target is stunned, I would get to a flanking position and use my flanking ability.
At level 5+, I would hit my Heroic Opportunity (HO) then proceed to the previous stated combination, Then close the HO with the AE attack.
I would save my quick swipe until the next heroic opportunity came around. When the heroic opportunity came back up, I would hit the HO and then proceed to using my snare + swipe.
These combos usually work well for taking down groups of enemies in a fairly descent time.
Group-Play
Group play is just a little bit different. Since you are grouped chances are, you are not the tank. This is a very good thing. You can use your flanking abilities a lot more.
Allow the tank to build up a good amount of hate on the target, after a few seconds go nuts with your flanking attacks, and swipes.
You generally won't need to stun the target unless you are using it to engage a heroic opportunity.
Summary
All in all the swashbuckler is a simple class, a well balanced class, but also a fun class. If you want some basic melee damage, that has some very good damage, this class is for you. Also note that the swashbuckler is a good aligned only class. So if you pick this class you will need to be in Qeynos.
