Rangers are the king of the wilds. With their bow and arrow they can deliver devastating damage to any opponent. Utilizing stealth melee attacks they are also adept in face to face combat. Using flanking abilities, they can deliver critical amounts of damage from special abilities.

Rangers gets sneak which allow them to use sneak attacks. They also get an array of offensive and defensive spells. Offensive spells from snares, to nukes. Group spells like run speed buffs.

Rangers also get pets to help them in many situations.

Solo-Play

Rangers are fantastic soloers. With their sneak and flank attacks, they can deal an impressive amount of damage before the enemy even knows they are there. Fighting face to face is just one way that a ranger can solo a variety of creatures.

Using snares to slow down an enemy, while running backwards shooting the enemy with your bow and arrow is a good way to solo. This is called kiting. Using kiting is probably one of the key ways a ranger can solo. Start off by getting behind the enemy, using your flanking shot, then snare and proceed to kite.

Group-Play

Rangers are also good groupers. They have enough damage to keep up with an intense groups demands. With the run speed buffs, they are also highly sought after for a group. Rangers are good for big group targets, because of their crippling attacks. These attacks weaken an enemy greatly making them easier to hit, or do less damage.

With their bow and arrow, a ranger can stand back and defend the casters from incoming creatures, while being able to deal amazing amounts of damage from a distance.

Summary

The ranger is a fantastic class for any situation. The ranger does not get any heals, so you need to be careful when you get hit to much if you are soloing. Relying on snares in a bad situation is not a bad thing to do, you can snare an enemy then flee.

You can also leave your pet behind to take a few hits while you are trying to flee.

Thats not to say that rangers are so weak that they always need to flee. They can stand up to a good amount of damage, and give back even more than they take.
