Everquest 2 Inquisitor

Everquest 2 Inquisitor

Description

Usually the main component of a traditional group the Inquisitor is really an evil Cleric; it's healing matched by no other class in the game. They have some of the best defensive buffs, ability to revive fallen allies, and the ability to cure disease and poisons.

Solo-Play

Solo-Play for an Inquisitor may be an oxy-moron except at lower levels. In the higher levels it will become increasinly difficult to solo no matter how well you can heal because of the lack of DPS. The Inquisitor does have a few divine direct damage spells in it's arsenal but I think you will quickly find out how weak these spells are, even though, they can be useful in some situations. The Inquisitor is better off grouping once you are out of the beginner levels if the goal is to level up fast and efficiently. If you don't mind slow leveling and even hard fights against enemies far weaker than you; then maybe the Inquisitor is up your ally. I must warn you cannot cast revive on yourself once you are dead.

Group-Play

The Inquisitor is master of group healing. Not only are it's direct healing spells and abilities the most powerful in the game it also is capable of casting a reverse damage shield or healing shield on it's group members. The reverse damage shield will restore health to the targetted ally everytime they are hit from a melee attack.

If you are 2-boxing another class you can usually pull 10-15 of blue con with your tank or melee character, cast a reverse damage shield on him continuously, and you will never see his life drop because each hit from an enemy is triggering a heal greater than the amount of damage taken per hit. The reverse damage shield will also server as a buffer so that you can get off your larger heals.

I recommend taking this spell line to the adept and higher levels if you get the option. What's even better is you will get a group version of this spell which works really well for group members who cause accidental aggro or having multiple tanks. Ontop of that, you get the best direct heals in the game, the ability to revive your allies, and you wear plate armor so you naturally can take a good amount of damage.

Summary

The Inquisitor will be required to be a main healer on a lot of raids. It cannot solo very efficiently passed low levels, will always be welcome to groups, and wears plate armor. Whether or not you dislike the lack of DPS will not matter because someone in your guild is going to have to make a cleric in order to efficiently raid.
