Everquest 2 Assassin Overview - EQ2 Assassin Overview

Everquest 2 Assassin

Description

The Assassin is a melee damage chain class that produces large amounts of melee damage. It has several combat abilities that are only usable when the Assassin is either sneaking, behind, or flanking; however, these abilities produce massive amounts of damage and make the Assassin an excellent damage class. While the Assassin does not have many buffs, the ones it has such as Tracking and run speed buffs are very beneficial.

Solo-Play

With the right strategy the Assassin is a very effective class to play solo. The main way to play effective with the Assassin is to be sure to take advantage of the Assassin's high damage combat abilities by using stealth and pulling mobs with a high damage opening move. Mobs are relatively very easy to kill when this very simple strategy is implemented. One will notice that it takes much much longer to kill mobs when they are simply pulled and no high damaging stealthed ability is used. Remember, the Assassin is rated to have excellent damage simply because of these high damage stealth, behind, and flanking abilities.

Group-Play

The Assassin is a great addition to just about any group. It’s ability to sneak around and to provide run speed can assist groups in sticky situations. However, more importantly, the Assassin’s high melee damage makes it a choice for group play. When playing in groups the Assassin will potentially be able to produce more damage than when soloing simply because it will be able to be behind mobs for longer periods of time. So instead of just one high damaging opening move, while in groups the Assassin can hang behind a mob and beat it down. To avoid taking agro from the tank, the Assassin conveniently comes with threat transfer and reduction abilities.

Summary

The Assassin is a fun class to play if you love dealing massive amounts of melee damage. The utility abilities like Stealth, Tracking, run speed buffs, and even the use of poisons create versatility and make the Assassin even more useful to groups and suited for solo play. Whether you like soloing or group play, the Assassin is well suited to both situations and is a great class to try out.
