Everquest 2 Classes

The purpose of this guide is to get you informed on how the balance of the classes are, which classes are best at what, and what type of class they are. Before you proceed, here is some basic information on how the balance works in Everquest 2

Class Balancing
I have arranged the different types from the strongest (Can take the most hits) to the weakest (So weak they are like tissue paper). Be advised this categorization is different from how Everquest 2 classifies their classes.

Class Types

  • Tank
  • Melee Damage
  • Healer
  • Support
  • Caster Damage

Armor Types

  • Plate
  • Chain
  • Leather
  • Cloth

Tank classes wear plate armor. They tank VERY well. However, they only do moderate to low damage. The low damage tanks have heals or life taps to compensate for their lack of damage output.

Melee Damage classes largely wear chain. Although the monk and bruiser wear leather. They all generally take hits fairly well. They make up for their lessened damage mitigation with being able to do a good amount of consistant damage. Monks and Bruisers get mend and 'Feign Death' abilities.

Healers wear plate and leather depending on the class you choose. The plate healers are the best healers in the game. But they have the lowest damage output out of all of the classes. Leather healers make up for their lack of mitigation with boosted damage, and special buffs.

Support classes do several different things. But wrapping it up into a small paragraph they support their groups in several different ways. They can boost their groups damage output through raw damage increase buffs, or through attack speed buffs. They can increase the resistance of group and raid members. The game would not be possible without this group of people.

NOTE:The Troubadour is a chain melee class, and takes damage as good as the Melee Damage group. But is considered a support class.

Caster Damage classes do the most burst damage in the game. They have no heals, but the necromancers have life taps. The pet classes have the least amount of mitigation and rely on their pets to take the damage for them. The Wizards and Warlocks do the most damage out of this group, and take a little bit more punishment than the pet classes.
